Fixing a Reading Comprehension Strategy

I've been learning how to use a metaphor to introduce a reading comprehension strategy. The metaphor is about the process of making a cake and it has four elements (Preparing, Mixing, Baking, Eating) that reflect the moments of the reading strategy.

Please, visit this blog to know more about it:  http://eflcomfortzone.blogspot.com.ar

After presenting the reading strategy in a first class, it was revised with an ANCHOR CHART in the following one.
The process to do it involved not only to think about the design and the material but also to think in a way to make it clear and practical.
As I mentioned before, the metaphor was about the process of making a cake so the anchor chart represented all the moments with drawings and the names of each one.

It was shown to the students to help them to remember the strategy, asking them what they have to do in each moment, what to take into account and to which details they have to pay attention. Once it was revised, they read a text applying it and having the anchor chart as a support.

I think the idea of using anchor charts in the classroom is very helpful because it is a way of fixing whatever we want students to learn and apply.
